Ms. Tilghman is an educator, orator, author, certified life coach and mentor who earned a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies with a Specialization in Communications from the American University in Washington, D.C. After 35 years of service in the federal/quasi government, she retired from the Federal Reserve Board of Governors to focus on her passion for teaching.
An educator at heart, over the years, Ms. Tilghman has worked with several church ministries and community projects focused on educating adults and children. Her desire after she retired was to work in the school system to encourage and impact the lives of children through teaching. She taught children in the classroom for several years as well as tutored students in Reading, English & Language Arts and Math during the summer months.
Ms. Tilghman is an author who has had her work published in several mediums to include an oral presentation in 2002 titled, "Life When You Are Deaf: Do You Hear What I Hear?” and a poem in August 2009 titled, "Patiently Waiting" published by Michele Jackson in the Real Life Faith Christian magazine. She has also self-published a children’s book in 2014 titled, "The Bubble Within” and in 2021 a Christian Inspirational Book titled, "It's A Matter of Perspective: Nuggets of Encouragement for the Journey." She has yet another children's book that will be published in August 2022.
In addition to being an author, she is a well-versed orator who served not only as a member but also held numerous positions of leadership for Toastmasters International, Inc. for 24 years.
She is the mother of four notably, successful adult children and Nana to currently, seven amazing grandchildren!
